Conference and Workshop in Prishtina, Kosovo

February 22-24, 2013

Archis Interventions continued its series of public lectures and discussions with a conference on »Perspectives in Urban Development«, held on Feb 22 at the Modellarium, Faculty of Architecture, in collaboration with the University of Prishtina. Lectures by Andres Lepik (Technical University Munich, Director of the Munich Museum of Architecture) and Vedran Mimica (Illinois Institute of Technology, College of Architecture, USA) presented examples of innovative forms of urbanism and architecture dealing with problems of urban transformation, and were followed by a lively discussion with the audience. The public event encouraged discussion in Prishtina about the city’s future development.

As future development of the City of Prishtina is hampered still by a lack of vision, Archis Interventions is planning an exhibition and public campaign on this theme for 2013. Its programmatic and structural proposals for the strategic urban development of the City of Prishtina are based on the ‘Urban Vision’ worked out in cooperation with local stakeholders in 2009. A concept for the improvement and upgrade of the inner city was first developed during a workshop in April 2012, and further elaborated in the workshop on February 23/24. The workshop was attended by members of Archis Interventions, Andres Lepik and Wilfred Hackenbroich and was open to the public. The results of the workshops will be assembled and presented in an exhibition in 2013.
