The FLUX project popularizes contemporary art by producing and presenting the artwork of local and foreign artists in circumstances specific to suburban areas. This style of producing, presenting and distributing art practices seeks to create a "chain-interaction" between the contemporary cultural scene and audiences living in localities where cultural programmes are practically non-existent. Such campaigns aim to mitigate the negative effects of centralized cultural programming, and to break down cultural and communication barriers, which isolate suburban inhabitants from people, artists and institutions located in the city centre.

General Information

The research and art project is hosted and produced by Cultural Center Rex, Belgrade

Focus:

Blending together different focuses, methodologies and participants, and working to locate and overcome a variety of spatial and cultural restrictions, as defined within urbanity-related terminology; seeking, locating and testing new capabilities and possibilities for art production both in the suburban and urban realms.

Approach:

Exchange of information; provision of infrastructure for art production in the local community; creative involvement in other cultural and social groups in the city, not only those related to spatial or economic differences; sharing social and political resources for contemporary visual art production and affiliated practices.
